National Women’s Day at the Blue Roof
National Women’s Day is an annual public holiday in South Africa on August 9.
The day commemorates the national march of women on August 9, 1956 to petition against legislation that required African persons to carry the “pass”, special identification documents which curtailed an African’s freedom of movement during the apartheid era.
Keep a Child Alive’s Blue Roof Wellness Centre hosted a reception in honor of National Women’s Day at the clinic. The Blue Roof currently provides life-saving anti-retroviral treatment to more than 1200 people in Durban, South Africa. The reception was held in the Blue Roof’s patient cafe, where patients receive a nutritious meal when they come to the clinic for testing and treatment.You can help keep the Blue Roof keep more patients alive.
